Late-night of Tuesday brought a wave of happiness for millions of IRCTC passengers. The Indian Railways minister, Piyush Goyal on Tuesday announced that from June 1, 200 non-AC trains will be getting back on the tracks. The booking for these trains shall begin on May 21 at 10:00 AM IST.
“Within the next two days, Indian Railways will double the number of Shramik Special Trains to 400 per day. All migrants are requested to stay where they are, Indian Railways will get them back home over the next few days,” Goyal tweeted.
The tweet came as a part of a series of tweets. In another tweet, Goyal said 200 Shramik Special trains will start running on a daily basis to help stranded migrants reach their respective destinations.
Further to this, Goyal asked the state governments to identify the migrants walking on roads to reach their destinations & transport them to the nearest railway line. Goyal asked the states to first register these migrants at the nearest district registrations and give the list to these travellers to railway authorities so that arrangements for them can be made.
“Indian Railways appeals to the migrants not to panic. Efforts are being made to ensure that all of them are able to travel to their home states at the earliest” said Ministry of Railways.
