In addition to these privileges, the Indian Railways has also allowed the beginning of Parcel and luggage bookings for these special trains.
βAll these special trains will have reserved coaches, but we have now decided to allow for tatkal ticket bookings. Premium Tatkal ticket booking feature exists in some trains and will be allowed in these special trains too if the train regularly has that feature,β a senior Railway Ministry official told the media.
Initially, the railways began 30 Special Rajdhani trains for easing the commute of people stranded across different parts of the nation. However, now 200 Mail Express trains are all set to take the tracks from June 1. The Indian Railways is slowly opening up its services to people while keeping the social-distancing & public-safety norms in mind.
Various states have issued different advisories for people coming from these special trains which are needed to be followed by the people. In a bid to reduce confusion & hassle for states, the IRCTC has introduced a Quarantine checklist for the passengers wherein the passengers agree to abide by the guidelines of the state government upon arrival.
