The Piyush Goyal-led Indian Railways has recently announced the suspension of all train services at the Anand Vihar Railway station of Delhi till further notice. The decision was taken on Monday and was announced via the official Twitter handle of the Northern Railway.

The announcement said nearly 5 pairs of trains would not be stopping at one of the most important railway stations of Delhi, the Anand Vihar Railway station.

The official tweet from Northern Railways stated, “It is notified for all concerned that for facilitating the placement of COVID-19 isolation coaches at Anand Vihar Terminal, the terminal of 5 pairs of trains presently origination at Anand Vihar will be shifted to Delhi Junction Railway station from June 15, 2020.”

The decision has been taken in the view of increasing COVID-19 cases in the national capital. Delhi government has decided to deploy various isolation coaches at all the platforms of the Anand Vihar Railway station. Thus, suspension of train services at the terminal has been enforced by the railway authorities.

Recently, the Union Minister Amit Shah, after a meeting with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, and Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal announced that about 500 isolation coaches would be deployed in Delhi to meet the increasing demand of beds.

“These railway coaches will not only add another 8,000 beds in Delhi but this coach will be equipped with all facilities to fight the corona infection,” Shah said.
